FAQ

What is digital signage?

Digital signage is a form of electronic display that shows information, advertising and other messages. Digital signs (such as LCD, LED, plasma displays, or projected images) can be found in public and private environments, such as retail stores and corporate buildings.

I'm not good with computers.  Will I be able to use Orange for my business?

Yes!  It was designed to be easy, and can be customized to be VERY easy!

What kind of display panel should I use with Orange?

There's an ideal type, and a cheaper type.  Realistically, any 720P or 1080P LCD or LED display (or projected image in certain applications) can be used for digital signage.  That includes that Vizio on sale at Walmart.  However, commercial digital signage panels are much better for this application and have come down significantly in price.  We install LG digital signage panels, but also install more consumer grade panels.  The commercial ones are designed to run 24-7 and are better for not-so-perfect environments like bars, factories, etc.  We've seen that Black Friday Sale Vizio last for 5 years while running 24-7, so you never know.  Our advice is to buy what you can afford, and if your environment requires a more durable commercial screen, then you should go that route.

Is there content, like news and weather, that I can get for my digital signage?

Yes!  We offer subscriptions to many different types of content.  Some of these options include: US news, world news, today's weather, forecasts, trivia, entertainment news, sports news, and more!  This is a great way to keep your content fresh, draw attention to your signage, and not lift a finger!

You say Orange is the affordable digital signage solution.  Is it really?

Feel free to take a look at our pricing.  If you've shopped around for digital signage solutions, you'll know that these prices are quite reasonable!  One of the main reasons we developed the Orange solution was because we thought the cost of getting into digital signage was simply too high for small businesses.  We've made every attempt to keep our pricing low and flexible.  We WANT you to have digital signage.  It makes our world more beautiful.

Why is it so cheap?

We don't like the cheap word, but it is cheaper than most other solutions.  This is because we do not have a fleet of authorized resellers.  We developed the system.  We sell the system.  We install, maintain, and support the system.  There's no place in that process for resellers to mark up the cost to the end user.  Beautiful, isn't it?

What hardware does Orange use?

Orange One uses a tiny little computer attached to the back of your display panel to kick out brilliant 1080P HD video.  Orange Server utilizes a physical Lenovo server, as well as the same tiny little computers used in Orange One for the clients.

Can Orange be used for emergency notifications?

Yes!  This is built right into the system.  Users can enter information into an emergency content area that overrides the content on the signage panels with emergency information.  This is great for schools, hospitals, and large office complexes that may need to get the word out about an emergency situation to a large campus.

Can the Orange units be wireless?

They can be.  Wireless is never as stable and dependable as wired, so we go with wired when possible.  Sometimes, it isn't possible and wireless becomes quite handy.

I'm interested in selling the Orange digital signage solution.  Can I?

Yes and no.  We like to do the selling ourselves at Lewiston Web Solutions because we believe in addressing the specific needs of our clients and want to be involved in each installation.  However, we do offer a referral program.  Feel free to contact us for more details.

Where do you install/sell Orange digital signage?

Currently, Orange is a regional product.  We are based in Western New York and do installs in the Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, and Erie, PA regions.
